95-year-old Ventura man found dead in an Oxnard water channel

OXNARD, Calif. - Oxnard police responded to a dead body found in the water channel in the 2500 block of Monaco Drive in Oxnard Tuesday afternoon.

A passerby called police at about 1 p.m. to report he had discovered an unresponsive person floating in the water. The Harbor Patrol recovered the person from the water but medical personnel pronounced the man dead.

The Oxnard Police Department said the man was a 95-year-old Caucasian from Ventura but had no further information on the case. The victim's identity will not be released until his family has been notified.

The cause of death is unknown at this time but there will be an autopsy performed at a later date. The investigation is ongoing.
