Vandenberg AFB satellite launch aboard SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket huge success

SpaceX launches satellite into space...

VANDENBERG AFB, Calif. - SpaceX Falcon 9 has a successful launch late Thursday morning from Vandenberg Air Force Base. The Falcon 9's mission--launch FORMOSAT-5 satellite into space.

The next launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base is scheduled for September 14, 2017. The ULA Atlas V carrying the NROL-42. This will be a mission for the National Reconnaissance office.



Vandenberg Air Force Base is set for another launch, this time, the launch of the FORMOSAT-5 satellite aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

The launch is scheduled for Thursday, August 24, 2017 between 11:50 a.m. and 12:34 p.m.

The community can view the launch from the Hawk's Nest on Highway 1 south of Vandenberg Air Force Base' main gate. The gate opens at 10:30 a.m. and closes at 11:40 a.m. Weapons, alcohol, smoke, open fires and/or barbecues will not be allowed.

The use of drones will not be allowed within five miles of any active runway.
