SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Tax Day is less than six weeks away and United Way wants to help. United Way's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) is offering free bilingual preparation and E-Filing services to people earning less than $58,000 a year.

It's part of the United For Financial Empowerment Initiative.  The initiative helps people by offering financial education, banking assistance and tax preparation.

Last year United Way of Santa Barbara County's Financial Empowerment Partnership helped prepare almost 3,000 returns that produced millions of dollars in refunds for residents.

Preparation sites are located in Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, Goleta, and Santa Ynez. The next free tax clinic will be held at the United Way office at 320 E. Gutierrez St. in Santa Barbara  Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. The clinics will continue to meet through April 15.
