SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Two cars collided in Santa Maria leaving one person dead. Santa Maria Police say it happened a little after midnight on Sunday.
Police were called to the collision at the intersection of Railroad and Donovan.
When they arrived they found two vehicles with major damage done to both.
Five people were sent to Marian Medical Center. One woman died from her injuries at the hospital. Police say she is a 57-year-old Santa Maria resident named Lyvelyn Ordas Reyes.
Alcohol appears to have played a factor in the wreck, according to police.
The suspected DUI driver is identified as 29-year-old Sergio Chagolla-Chagolla. He was arrested and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. The investigation is ongoing.
