SANTA MARIA, Calif. - While the holidays are a time when many get the chance to share gifts with their loved ones, that's not the case for every family.
Across Santa Barbara County, programs like Toys 4 Tots try and deliver presents for children who might not otherwise get any gifts at all.
This year, the organization is in dire need of help.
Maggie Suarez works with Toys 4 Tots, but she's also a parent.
"We're working with what we have but I feel like we're running out of time," Suarez said "I wouldn't like the feeling of not being able to give something to my children."
Toys 4 Tots gathers Christmas presents for hundreds of children across the Santa Maria Valley, but there's a big problem this year.
"If you look around, every pile is pretty short," Suarez said.
The program is looking to provide toys for children ages 2-12, but they are far short on gifts for girls and boys, particularly girls ages 6-12.
"We're working hard to make sure each gift is worth it and that they are pretty excited when they open up that bag," Suarez said.
Families sent in their requests for gifts in November and Suarez says they need the gifts as soon as possible.
There are toy drop off locations all over the area, including Toys r Us and Macy's.
