OJAI, Calif. - A singer known for backing up the late, great Leonard Cohen performed a benefit show in Ojai on Sunday. Perla Batalla took time out from a tour to perform at the Ojai Vineyard Tasting room for the Rhythmic Arts Project also known as TRAP.
The Santa Barbara-based nonprofit was created by drummer Eddie Tuduri following a body surfing accident in Carpinteria. Tuduri used rhythm to get well and now uses it to enhance the lives of people with developmental disabilities.
Batalla, who calls Ojai home, was backed up by the TRAP Groove Ensemble.
The money raised at the event will help fund TRAP programs in local schools and around the globe.
