GOLETA, Calif. -

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputies, probation officers, UCSB police and members of the district attorney's office waited tables at Chili's in Goleta on Wednesday night.

Diners at the restaurant were given tip envelopes to sponsor the law enforcement torch relay that raises money for the Special Olympics.

Sheriff Bill Brown said they can raise $5,000 waiting tables in one night.

Probation officer Lori Crestfield said she ended up waiting on her boss' table.

She said she has deep respect for real waiters and the work they do.
