Staggering Isla Vista Halloween Costs Hit Taxpayers Again
Event requires more deputies, fire, medics, and fencing
Taxpayers are footing the bill for security and much more at the Halloween event in Isla Vista this weekend.
The Sheriff's budget alone will show an estimated cost of $203,000. In past years, the security costs, along with public works crews, tents, fencing, and more exceeded $400,000.
Many out of the area police officers have been hired to help out. They are joined by probation officers, AMR medics, extra firefighters, Search and Rescue teams and University Police.
Isla Vista's Halloween party is expected to last three nights.
Several streets were posted with no parking signs earlier this week. Cars that remained this afternoon were towed away.
