Longtime San Marcos Coach Calls It A Career
John Lee has coached countless boys and girls volleyball matches at the school's gym, nicknamed the Thunderhut. Thursday night, Lee heard the thunder in the hut for the final time.
After 24 years on the Royals bench, the highly popular coach is retiring after the season. Thursday was San Marcos final home match. In his nearly quarter century of coaching the Royals, Lee won two CIF titles with the boys program and one with the girls. He also coached some of the best prep volleyball players in the country. A group that includes Brook Billings, who will compete for the U.S. at the Beijing Olympics in August. |
