Anthony Grillo's goal in the 49th minute proved to be the game-winner as Cal Poly defeated UCSB 2-1 in men's soccer. The victory gives the Mustangs sole possession of first place in the Big West Conference. The defending national champion Gauchos played the match without top defenders Andy Iro and Greg Curry. The match was played before a record Cal Poly soccer crowd of 7,143 at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
