Six local stores sell tobacco to minors
Local stores in the San Luis Obispo area have been caught and cited for selling tobacco to minors. County officials put on a sting operation using two minor decoys.
The decoys visited 54 stores in the county's unincorporated areas and discovered that six of them did not ask for ID, examined the identification wrong, or did not correctly calculate the age. One of the six stores, Avila Mercantile & Grocery has been cited before, making this citation its third.
The compliance check was carried out by the San Luis Obispo County Health Agency's Tobacco Control Program and San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.
