SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Santa Barbara Sheriff's Search and Rescue helped locate six hikers who were stranded near Mission Canyon Saturday night.

The six hikers, also students at Santa Barbara City College and UCSB, hiked up the hill near Seven Falls to see the sunset. But afterwards they realized they were too far up the hill to hike back down to their cars before night time. None of the students had flashlights, the only lights they had was from their cell phones.

At around 7 p.m. one of the hikers called police saying they were lost, dehydrated and starting to get cold. While they were waiting two hikers with headlamps found the students. The Good Samaritans helped the group down the hill.

Santa Barbara Sheriff's Search and Rescue met the group half way down the trail. And guided them to safety.
