SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Santa Barbara City Fire crews responded to a school bus on fire just before 4 p.m. Thursday on Mission and Chino streets.

Fire officials said the bus dropped off the last child on the route and then burst into flames.

It appears the fire began in the engine compartment in the front of the bus. The bus driver was able to safely pull over and evacuate before the bus was fully engulfed in flames.

Authorities said the front of the bus is damaged and many windows were broken. No injuries were reported.
