SANTA MARIA, Calif. -

There have been about seven armed robberies in Santa Maria since December.

Police believe at least three involve the same suspects: El Ranchero on Main Street on January 6th, 7 Stars Food Store on Blosser Road on January 31st, and Santa Maria Deli Liquor on Main Street last Saturday evening.

Police say the supects are targeting small and independently-owned shops.

Now similar stores say they are checking their surveillance systems to make sure they are recording and pointed the right directions if they are robbed next.

Stores also say they are keeping less cash, and training their employees to respond to a robbery.

The suspect in the robberies is described as a white male, 5'9" tall, with a medium build.

The vehicle in the surveillance video is a white Chevy SUV.

Call the Santa Maria Police Department if you know who the suspects are.
