SANTA MARIA, Calif. -

A woman is behind bars after police say she hit a car, drove away from the scene, then led officers on a chase in Santa Maria Thursday night.

Police first responded to the hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Stowell Road and Bradley Road. They say the suspect, Marlys Thole, drove away from the scene, going south on Bradley Road.

Shortly before 7pm, officers caught up with Thole at the intersection of Battles Road and Miller Street.  When Thole saw police, they say she ran a red light and led them on a short pursuit.  Eventually, she pulled into a dirt road near Newlove Drive and Miller Street and surrendered to police.

The victim in the crash was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Meantime, Thole was booked into the North County Jail on three felony charges, including hit-and-run, evading, and driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a crash.
