SANTA MARIA, Calif. - UPDATE
The body of a woman found in the Santa Maria Riverbed on October 1st has been identified as 47-year-old Santa Maria resident Lucinda Gouin.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office said Gouin also has ties to San Luis Obispo County and the state of Louisiana. She is also known as Lucinda Owens or Lucinda Luker, the Sheriff's Office said.
An autopsy conducted by the Sheriff's Coroner's Office determined that Gouin did not have any physical trauma to her body. However, the cause and manner of death is undetermined and remains under investigation.
Officials are still waiting on toxicology reports.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious death after the body of a woman was discovered in the Santa Maria Riverbed Sunday night.
The Sheriff's Office said that the victim was found at about 9:30 p.m. The Sheriff's Forensics Unit spent Sunday night and Monday processing the scene for any evidence.
The victim has yet to be identified by authorities. Her identity will not be released until next-of-kin is notified.
