LOMPOC, Calif. - [Update 8:00 p.m.] The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department has released the identity of the man killed in Thursday morning's industrial accident near Lompoc.
Adan Guerrero Villa, 60, of Lompoc was killed after he was pinned between a truck and a trailer after it the truck jackknifed while a forklift was being loaded onto the truck.
Next of kin has been notified.
A deadly crash involving a Coastal Vineyard Care Associates pickup truck near Lompoc late Thursday morning claimed the life of one person.
The incident happened in the 2300 block of Sweeney Road in an unincorporated area of Santa Barbara County shortly after 11:30 a.m.
Personnel with the California Highway Patrol, Santa Barbara County Fire Department, and other local agencies were dispatched to the scene.
The victim, described as a middle-aged man, was trying to load a forklift onto a trailer when something went wrong and he became trapped between the trailer and the pickup truck, according to Capt. Dave Zaniboni with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency crews. Cal OSHA has been notified of the incident as this is considered a "workplace injury" by officials.
