SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Five people were displaced after a fire erupted inside an apartment in Santa Maria Wednesday afternoon.
The fire sparked in the living room of an apartment on 300 block of Sheila Lane at around 3 p.m. The apartment was on the bottom floor of a four-plex apartment building.
The occupants attempted to fight the flames with a garden hose until firefighters arrived on scene. The fire was extinguished a short time later.
A window was broken out but there was no major damage to the exterior.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Red Cross will provide housing for those displace by the fire.
