SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The National Recreation and Park Association, in association with the Disney company, is giving away $20,000 to give a local park a makeover.
The association has launched a campaign to revitalize parks across the Unites States.
The $20,000 grant presents an opportunity for Santa Maria to get the necessary funds to replace the playground equipment at Armstrong Park that was destroyed in a March 27 fire.
City officials encourage residents to nominate Santa Maria for the grant once per day to increase the chances of winning. The city that receives the most nominations by the end of April will receive the $20,000 grant.
Those who submit will be entered into a drawing for a tablet outfitted for the outdoors.
