Santa Barbara's first newborn of the New Year made his entrance into the world at 3:40 am at Cottage Hospital.
Members of the local media gathered in the hospital room for a photo op while Yoali Lorenzo cradled her newborn son.
Little Oliver Sanchez weighed in at seven pounds, six ounces and his parent's first child.
Lorenzo and Marcos Sanchez were expecting their baby Jan. 6, but apparently little Oliver was anxious to make a New Year's Day entrance.
"I feel excited," said Lorenzo. "This little thing is part of my life now, something that I cannot explain. Beautiful."
Dr. Mohamed Zaki said the delivery was fast and was his first New Year's newborn.
