University Campus Fire Alarms Experiencing Technical Glitch

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - University of California Santa Barbara officials alerted students and staff that there is glitch in the campus fire alarm system.

A community wide alert was sent out just before 3 p.m. Friday. UCSB Deputy Fire Marshall Eric Ruse said a technical glitch is preventing fire alarms from automatically notifying emergency personnel when activated.

Fire alarm lights and sounds will still go off if a fire alarm is initiated. Officials ask that if anyone sees a fire on campus to call 911 immediately.

Campus Safety Officers will be patrolling the campus over the weekend listening for fire alarms going off until the issue is resolved.
