SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A small airplane crash-landed at the Santa Barbara Airport after landing gear failed Monday afternoon.
The twin engine plane's pilot suffered a minor hand injury as a result of the accident.
The pilot originally was flying to Oceano when he noticed the landing gear light did not show that the gear was down and locked. He then contacted the Santa Barbara Airport who told him to return to Santa Barbara where the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting units would be available.
When the pilot landed, the landing gear was down but the right side of the gear collapsed.
Runway 15R was closed for several hours while the plane was towed for repair.
