Sheriff's Office releases names of residents that died during Montecito flooding

MONTECITO, Calif. - The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office has released the identities of 21 victims that were killed in Tuesday's deadly storm.

The names and ages of the decedents are as follows:

  1. Jonathan Benitez - 10 years old
  2. Kailly Benitez - 3 years old
  3. Martin Cabrera-Munoz - 48 years old
  4. David Cantin - 49 years old
  5. Sawyer Corey - 12 years old
  6. Peter Fleurat - 73 years old
  7. Josephine Gower - 69 years old
  8. John McManigal - 61 years old
  9. Alice Mitchell - 78 years old
  10. James Mitchell - 89 years old
  11. Mark Montgomery - 54 years old
  12. Caroline Montgomery - 22 years old
  13. Marilyn Ramos - 27 years old
  14. Rebecca Riskin - 61 years old
  15. Roy Rohter - 84 years old
  16. Peerawat Sutthithepa - 6 years old
  17. Richard Taylor - 67 years old
  18. Joseph Francis "Joe" Bleckel - 87 years old
  19. Morgan Christine Corey - 25
  20. Pinit "Oom" Sutthithepa - 30
  21. Faviola Benitez Calderon- 28

The cause of death for the 21 victims is listed as “Multiple traumatic injuries due to flash flood with mudslides due to recent wildfire," according to the Sheriff's Office news release.

"The Sheriff’s Office wants to express our heartfelt sadness to the family and friends of those who lost their loved ones," stated the news release. "We request that you respect their privacy during this most difficult time."
