SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A water line break that occurred at the Santa Barbara Harbor Monday at about 9 a.m. has caused days-worth of damage repairs and a headache for boat owners at Marina 2.
Santa Barbara Public Works will spend the next several hours repairing a broken line carrying potable water. City officials say Marina 2 was affected and water had to be shut off.
Witnesses reported seeing the water turn a brown color. Officials explain that this is from sand and dirt sediment in the pipeline.
Crews expect repairs to the broken line to be completed by 2 p.m. Monday, and all water should be restored by later in the afternoon.
The incident damaged the bike path and roadway next to the marina and will take a few days to repair the asphalt in the area.
Safety signage and yellow caution tape has been posted to alert bicyclists and harbor visitors.
