MONTECITO, Calif. - UPDATE
The man who was struck and killed by a train in Montecito Saturday morning has been identified as 46-year-old Santa Barbara resident Timothy Manning Sanchez.
Investigators said the train engineer saw Sanchez on the train tracks and sounded his horn before applying the braking system, but Sanchez did not respond to the train's alert and was hit by the train.
The incident and circumstances surrounding the deadly crash remain under investigation.
A man was killed Saturday morning in Montecito after he was struck and killed by an Amtrak train.
According to a press release from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office, the man was walking on the tracks near Eucalyptus Lane and Miramar Avenue at around 10:15 a.m.
The engineer of the northbound passenger train activated the horn, whistle and braking system but the man did not respond and was struck by the train.
Authorities will release the man's identity once his family has been notified.
The incident and circumstances regarding the collision are under investigation. An official cause of death will be released following toxicology and lab results.
