Our Daily Bread moves midtown

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The owner of Our Daily Bread, a 32-year-old popular bakery, is closing up shop and heading midtown, to De La Vina and Alamar to a larger, beautifully renovated shop.

The doors will close for good Saturday, at the shop's downtown location in Santa Barbara.

Travel midtown and take a peak inside the bakery's new home, at the site of what was formerly known as Mimosa.

You'll find pumpkin walls mixed with corrugated metal panels, accented with stainless steel pendant lights in a contemporary setting.

In the back, three ovens instead of two, will bake the special breads that have drawn a loyal clientele over the years.

Owner Lori Zalk admits many of her long standing customers are saddened to see the bakery close up shop at the Santa Barbara Street location, but she's certain the new neighborhood will be a better fit.

"We're going to do full breakfast, Saturday and Sunday brunch and want the neighborhood to come out." Zalk said.

Wine and beer will also be served.

Zalk is excited at the prospect of mixing her original downtown clientele -- even if they have to drive -- with new customers from all over, including nearby Samarkand, San Roque and east side neighborhoods.

The new doors to Our Daily Bread will open by Friday, April 12th.
