SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Today's world cup game, Mexico versus Brazil, was a reason for some Central Coast employees to take off work.
Many Mexicans say soccer is a part of their culture, so the game is a way to celebrate their heritage and pride away from their home.
Some employees were lucky enough to have the game brought to them; the president of Skyline Flowers in Santa Maria plans to hold a viewing every time Mexico plays this series
"I know how important it is for them to be involved because soccers such a popular sport," Joe Goldberg said.
He says the viewings are a great way for his employees to bond and may become a tradition.
