SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Hundreds of local elementary school kids are getting life lessons through music.
Students met with world class musicians from the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara Thursday.
It's part of an outreach program for undeserved children. The program serves kids between the ages of 6 and 13. Organizers say they hope to introduce local youth to the world of classical music.
Montecito Bank & Trust and the Music Academy of the West hosted some 300 area children for a fun day of activities. Montecito Bank & Trust is also the corporate sponsor of the Music Academy's 2014 Summer Festival.
Participants included kids from area Boys and Girls Clubs as well as the United Way fun in the sun program.
