SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The flu season has taken a toll in Santa Barbara County.
A Ellwood Elementary School parent became the fifth person to die from influenza since the flu since the season started in September.
The Goleta woman died last Thursday.
Public Health Officers are not allowed to comment on specific cases but they did confirm the death.
Medical Director Peter Hasler, M.D. said the flu season just peaked locally.
He said people with weak immune systems should get vaccinated.
To prevent the spread Dr. Hasler said everyone should wash their hands, cover their mouths when coughing and stay home and call a doctor when they're not feeling well.
