Deputies Catch Santa Maria Man Who Bailed on Warrant

Reverse 911 Call Goes Out to Nearby Residents

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies spent part of Tuesday morning looking for a man who ran from deputies when a warrant was being served.

Gang and narcotics units were at the scene on the 3100 block of Courtney Drive and chased the man when he took off. Deputies caught up with him a short time later.

While deputies were running after the man, Joe Nightingale Elementary School was put on precautionary lockdown and a reverse 911 call was issued to nearby residents.

The suspect jumped over fences and ran through backyards in attempt to get away from the deputies.

Sheriff officials said no one was injured in the incident but the suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The suspects name is not being released due to the ongoing investigation. Authorities said the suspect is from the Santa Maria area and does have a known gang affiliation.
