SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - For the first time in nearly two years, private boats can launch from Cachuma Lake.
There are five launch ramps at the lake, but the water is only high enough for one to open.
Santa Barbara County Parks officials said the runoff water from recent storms raised the lake level significantly. It is now at 44% capacity.
On Saturday, only one private boat went out into the water.
"It's going to take probably a week before everybody realizes that the lake is open and we can launch our boats now," said marina manager Monty Keller.
Boat also need to pass an inspection and 30-day quarantine before they can be launched.
