SLO warming center to open Monday due to rain

Check in begins at 4:45 p.m.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Prado Warming Center in San Luis Obispo will be opened Monday due to forecasted rain.

The warming center is located at 43 Prado Road. It will be open to anyone seeking a hot meal and shelter from the cold conditions.

Pets are allowed and smoking is permitted in designated areas. The center is a sobriety-based facility.

Check in begins at 4:45 p.m.

The warming center closes at 8 a.m. but anyone who stays overnight is invited to visit the Prado Day Center and access their services starting at 8:30 a.m.

The warming center may open for future dates if warranted. Call 211 for information on warming centers in San Luis Obispo County.

The Warming Center currently needs donations of the following:

  • Sleeping bags are very much needed!
  • Large trash bags
  • Disposable plates, bowls, cups, and utensils
  • Coffee, tea, creamer, sugar
  • Breakfast Bars
  • Instant Noodle/Cup of Noodles
  • Large backpacks
  • New socks and warm gloves
  • Rain gear/ponchos/umbrellas
