SLO County marijuana delivery service issued first state license

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - Arroyo Grande based Elite Care California, a marijuana product delivery business, has been issued temporary medical non-storefront retailer license from the newly formed California Bureau of Cannabis Control.

"It's the first license given to anyone in the state of California," said Cynthia Gonzalez, co-owner of Elite Care California. "It really is quite a momentous occasion, and we are just so happy the state decided to go legal and regulate."

The key word there being regulate. All of their products have been inspected and state certified.

Gonzalez says she has had patients show her unregulated marijuana deliveries covered in mold, or simply outdated.

"We believe this medicine deserves to be in everyone's medicine chest," Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez has used marijuana products for than four decades to manage chronic pain. She says the stories she hears from patients is great motivation to push for expanded use.

"It is helping so many people's lives, it's sustaining lives, it's helping people's pain from getting worse. I have seen it work," Gonzalez said.

Elite Care California is well on their way to becoming one of the first marijuana businesses with a permanent license. Gonzalez says she's proud the central coast is leading the way when it comes to marijuana regulation.

"The movement really started here in this county, and people should know just how valuable this county is to the movement."
