SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - SLO Brew in San Luis Obispo is lending a helping hand to the recovery efforts in Santa Barbara County following a destructive storm on Jan. 9.
The brewery company is using its canning line to package fresh drinking water.
“It’s devastating. We have family, friends, and fans of SLO Brew throughout Santa Barbara impacted by the mudslide,” said co-owner Hamish Marshall. “When we heard about the damage to the fresh water supply, we knew we could help.”
With a donation from WS Packaging Solutions, a local label company, SLO Brew is using the fresh reverse osmosis water they normally use for brewing beer to package 16-ounce hand-labeled cans with potable water that will be distributed to those affected by the mudslide with the help from the American Red Cross and the Unity Shoppe.
SLO Brew will also be donating $1 for every pint purchases at either of their San Luis Obispo locations on Saturday, January 20, 2018.
The company said it has raised over $5,000 in donations in response to the Thomas Fire to date.
