PISMO BEACH, Calif. - The city of Pismo Beach is fighting fake news Thursday. A website called react365 posted a story claiming dozens of dead sharks washed ashore in Pismo Beach.
The online story even included a photo with attribution.
The story gained over 44,000 shares on Facebook. City leadership got wind of the post and took to social media to make a correction.
Pismo Beach officials said the post was “fake news” and the beaches are open for everyone to enjoy.
On the home page of react365, it says you can create a web story to prank friends.
It is unknown who created the fictitious web story out of Pismo Beach.
