Update: Coast Guard identifies missing man in water near Avila Beach

AVILA BEACH, Calif. - UPDATE:

The Sheriff's Office has identified the missing man as 35 year old Nicholas Deloss Marold of Arroyo Grande.

The Sheriff's Office says Marold reportedly went overboard off an inflatable fishing vessel, three miles off the coast of Port San Luis.

His body has not been recovered.

As of 8:30 PM, the US Coast Guard and the Sheriff's Office suspended all search efforts.

Search and rescue crews from the United States Coast Guard searched the waters of Port San Luis near Avila Beach after receiving a report of a missing person in the water.

Crews began searching at around noon, focusing on the waters a few miles west of the port.

The missing person was described as a white male, 190 pounds and 6'1" with short blond hair. He was last seen wearing black swimming trunks and a black long-sleeve shirt.

The Coast Guard launched a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Morro Bay to search for the missing man. A Coast Guard helicopter from Point Mugu, California Highway Patrol and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office assisted in the search.

As of 6 p.m., the missing man had yet to be located.
