Charges Filed for Suspect in Shooting of Former Cal Poly Football Player

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Charges have been filed for one of the two men who San Luis Obispo Police say shot a former Cal Poly football player last November.

The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office filed four felony charges, including burglary and drug charges, against one of the suspects, Brian Gonzales. An arrest warrant has also been issued, according to the DA.

Police say say Geoffrey Hyde, 22, was shot in what may have been a drug deal gone bad on November 21, 2013. Gonzales and another unidentified man entered the house on Buena Vista Avenue to buy prescription drugs. Hyde, who played for the Mustangs from 2009 through 2012 was shot in the back.

The other suspect has not been caught.
