'Big Bang Theory' actor Johnny Galecki loses home in Hill Fire

Fire has scorched 1,600 acres thus far

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - As firefighters get the upper hand on the Hill Fire burning near Santa Margarita with a 60 percent containment and residents are allowed to return home, one Hollywood celebrity may not have a home to return to.

TMZ is reporting that 'Big Bang Theory' star Johnny Galecki's ranch property "burned to the ground Monday night" in the Hill Fire.

Galecki has not been allowed into his property due to evacuation orders but plans to return to gather any personal belongings he can as soon as he's given the green light to do so, according to TMZ.

Galecki issued the following statement through his publicist:

My heart goes out to all in the area who are also experiencing loss from this vicious fire. The threat of which we live with constantly, which may seem crazy to some but we do so because living in our beautiful, rural area makes it worthwhile.

It's never the structures that create a community -- it's the people. And if the people of Santa Margarita have taught me anything it's that, once the smoke has cleared, literally and figuratively, it's a time to reach out and rebuild. We've done it before and we'll need to do it together again. And it will make our community even closer and stronger.

Endless thanks to CalFire and the Sheriff's office. I know you guys are fighting the good fight to keep us safe. So very relieved no one has been hurt.

Much love.

A Cal Fire spokesperson said they had not had any contact with the homeowner.

Evacuation orders were lifted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 27. Residents were allowed to return home after that but non-residents continued to be restricted from the fire area.
