GAVIOTA, Calif. - A helicopter was called in to rescue a stranded woman at Gaviota State Beach Sunday afternoon.
At around 12:45 p.m., Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office responded to the beach for a report of a woman in her early 20's who had fallen six feet off a ledge above the ocean.
The woman was stranded on the ledge outcropping about 500 yards north of Gaviota pier.
A helicopter arrived on scene and hoisted the woman from the rock ledge.
The woman was transported to Fire Station 18 in Gaviota before being taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by AMR.
The woman, who was not identified, suffered moderate injuries.
