Retired Lompoc fire chief dies from job-related cancer

LOMPOC, Calif. - The Lompoc Fire Department announced that former Fire Chief Linual A. White Jr. has died after a long battle with job-related cancer.

Chief White was born and raised in El Centro where he served in the fire department for 25 years.

White began his career with the Lompoc Fire Department in 2002 and served for seven years before retiring in December of 2009.

White lived in Lompoc with his wife Carol and continued to be active in the community until his death. 

Lompoc Fire Department officials say White passed peacefully in his home Wednesday evening, surrounded by family and friends.

A memorial service will be held in honor of White’s life and service. A date has not yet been set,
