Great white shark spotted at Santa Barbara Harbor

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol says it received a credible report of a fat, dark gray, great white shark "hovering under a two person kayak in the Harbor entrance channel."

The shark appeared to be between 10 and 12 feet long according to a statement released by the Harbor Patrol.

The great white shark was spotted between Stearns Wharf and the sandspit on Friday. No one was injured in the encounter.

The Harbor Patrol says the shark did not exhibit any aggressive behavior. No further details were immediately known.

Shark sighting signs will be posted at city beaches for the next 24 hours.
