SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The City of Santa Barbara is hosting a public workshop to get the community's thoughts on a possible sales tax measure to repair streets and potholes among other public safety needs.
The public is invited to the workshop which will be held Tuesday, June 13 at 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Faulkner Gallery in the library at 40 East Anapamu Street.
The city's basic facilities rely on general tax dollars, but in it has suffered cuts over the past five years. The state has taken away over $100 million dollars in local city funding through the elimination of redevelopment agencies. The city must look for local funding sources that can't be taken away. Currently, the sales tax rate in Santa Barbara is 7.75%.
Residents are invited to learn information and provide input on the city's infrastructure needs.
