Goleta Mayor Roger Aceves is running for Santa Barbara county supervisor.
Aceves announced his bid for the Second District seat Tuesday alongside his family and supporters at Goleta Beach.
The Second District seat is currently held by Supervisor Janet Wolf, who told NewsChannel 3 she plans to run for re-election. Wolf said she already filed the necessary paperwork.
Aceves said if he wins he will make sure the county pays more attention to the needs of Goleta.
"Our city has not been responded to by the Board of Supervisors so I will champion unincorporated areas and the cooperated areas," said Aceves.
Aceves wants to end Goleta's revenue sharing agreement with the county. Goleta has paid $81 million to the county since the city was formed in 2002.
The mayor of Goleta also wants to prevent any changes to Goleta Beach that would get rid of parking or the playground.
The second district supervisor race is in June 2014.
