Cutting edge technology at Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital is giving paralyzed patients a chance to walk again.

The Ekso GT robotic exoskeleton is now available to patients at the rehabilitation hospital.

62-year-old Larry Bartley used the robotic suit several times after a recent accident left him with a spinal cord injury.

After being told he may never walk again, the exoskeleton helped Bartley take hundreds of strides, strengthening his legs and posture.

The exoskeleton can also help stroke patients.

Every patient needs to be evaluated by a physician and the care team to determine who is a good candidate to benefit from the Ekso.

The $150,000 piece of equipment was paid for by the Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation.

The foundation is hosting a demonstration of the exoskeleton at the Fess Parker Double Tree Resort on Sept. 26.
