Revving Up for Drag Racing Season
Crew Chief Alan Johnson is Also Manufacturing Race Car Engines
It's time to rev up for drag racing season which begins in Pomona next weekend.
One man in Santa Maria has a lot to do before then.
Alan Johnson owns, Alan Johnson Performance Engineering, an engine factory in east Santa Maria.
He's spent all winter perfecting 30 engines; that's 70% of the 44 race car engines that will be competing in the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.
He’s also managing his own team, Al-Anabi.
Of course he hopes Al-Anabi brings home the trophy this year.
But they don’t, his company will probably be a “part” of the winning team.
The Mello Yello drag racing series is one of the largest in the country.
It begins February 7th and tickets are from $40 to $50 dollars.
