OXNARD, Calif. -

The American Red Cross of Ventura County continues to provide shelter, food and comfort to more than 70 people who lost their homes due to a multi-unit apartment fire that occurred in Oxnard on Friday, Oct. 4.

The Red Cross convened a Partner Agency Task Force on Monday, Oct. 7 to discuss the process of transitioning the impacted families into sustainable housing.

The task force included representatives from Oxnard Fire Department, Oxnard Housing Authority, Ventura County Office of Emergency Services, Ventura County Supervisor's office, Oxnard School District, Ventura County Human Services Agency and the Mexican Consulate. The meeting focused on identifying the clients' needs and the partner agencies' resources.

The Red Cross shelter located at the Oxnard College gymnasium has now been moved to R.J. Frank Intermediate School. All families have been transported from Oxnard College to R.J. Frank Intermediate School.

The Red Cross will continue to assist these families until long-term sustainable housing accommodations are arranged.
