SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. -

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff responded to a smuggling boat found near the beach at San Simeon State Park Campground.

The 30-foot boat was found by State Park Rangers around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday.

One 30 pound package of marijuana was discovered near the abandoned boat. Officials said they believe several thousand pounds of marijuana were offloaded from the boat overnight or early morning.

The street value of the marijuana recovered is estimated at $18,000.

Detectives are continuing to investigate with the assistance of State Park Rangers and the U.S. Coast Guard.

The campground is located at 500 San Simeon Creek Road in Cambria.

No suspects are in custody and no arrests have been made.
