SOLVANG, Calif. - The Solvang city council held a special meeting Friday night in an attempt to fill a seat left vacant by a councilman's resignation.
Hans Duus resigned amid a controversy about his residence. According to Noozhawk, Duus moved to Santa Maria following a foreclosure on his home.
Duus resigned from city council less than a year after he was elected, following a dramatic election involving an early tie with his opponent.
City councilmembers will attempt to fill the vacancy before Oct. 27 or be forced to hold a special election. Noozhawk says the price tag for a special election could range between $6,000 and $28,800.
Reporter Sean Larsen will have the latest details and possible solutions following Friday night's meeting.
