LOMPOC, Calif. - A body found near a homeless camp in a riverbed in the City of Lompoc prompted an investigation by police.
Detectives with the Lompoc Police Department said there were no visible signs of trauma.
At about 12:06 a.m. Tuesday, Lompoc police received a call from a clerk at the Circle K located at Central Avenue and H Street. Police said the clerk told officers an individual had come into the store and reported the body in the riverbed.
The witness had left the store before police arrived. However, officers were able to locate the homeless camp where a person there took them to the body.
The body was taken by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Coroner's Office. The identity of the decedent will not be released until family has been notified.No further details were immediately known.
