PASO ROBLES, Calif. -

Families of fatal crash victims in Paso Robles will now have to pay a price if they want to post a roadside memorial.

It's part of a newly approved roadside memorial program. Families of deceased loved ones will have to pay $285 to ensure the sign will be stay in place for two years.

City workers will install the signs, which must be 12 inches by 15 inches, with a crimson background and white letters.

City officials say the program is to eliminate distracting memorials with flowers, balloons and other items.
